Scott Smith is an
Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of
Hong Kong, China. He graduated BE (Civil Engineering, Hon. 1) (1994) and PhD in
Structural Engineering (1999) from The University of New South Wales, Sydney,
Australia, and he is a Fellow of Engineers Australia. Dr Smith is currently
Vice-President of the Hong Kong Chapter of Engineers Australia and he also
serves on the Executive Committee of the International Institute for FRP in
Construction (IIFC). His research interests include the application of
advanced materials (e.g. fibre-reinforced polymer
composites) for the repair and strengthening of existing concrete, metallic and
timber infrastructure; and sustainable development of the built environment. Dr Smith has published widely in the FRP composites
in civil engineering field and he has won several research awards from
professional international institutions.
