The Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) are pleased to announce the official launch of the teacher training package for the 2007 HKCE English Language Examination School-based Assessment (SBA) Component which includes an introductory DVD and booklet, and two training CD-ROMs. The introductory DVD contains information about the philosophy, content and structure of SBA, addresses issues of validity and reliability, the standardisation processes and provides sample assessment tasks and case studies from schools involved with the SBA development and trialling. The training CD-ROMs explain the assessment criteria in detail and contain samples of a range of student oral performances for training and assessment purposes.
The research and development of the teacher training package was funded by the HKEAA and developed by the SBA Consultancy Team, led by Dr Chris Davison and Prof Liz Hamp-Lyons, Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with more than 500 students, 80 teachers, and 39 SBA group coordinators from Hong Kong secondary schools.
Dr Peter Hill, the Secretary General from the HKEAA will launch the teaching package, together with Prof Paul Tam, Pro-Vice-chancellor (Research) of The University of Hong Kong, which will be followed by a talk given by Dr. Chris Davison entitled 'Changing tests for teachers: English language school-based assessment in Hong Kong' which describes the research and development of the SBA initiative and the various issues and challenges that need to be addressed. A copy of the introductory DVD will be given to interested parties for reference. |
