Sri Lanka: N.K.B. Adikaram

Dr N K B Adikaram is currently a Senior Professor in the Department of Botany, University of Peradeniya. He obtained the B.Sc. from the University of Colombo and Ph.D from the Queens University of Belfast, United Kingdom. He joined the staff of the Department of Botany in 1976 and teaches undergraduate degree courses in General Mycology, Fungal biodiversity and Plant Pathology and postgraduate degree courses in Plant/Postharvest Pathology, and has supervised numerous M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D students. His major research interests are biology and pathology of Colletotrichum species, fungal diseases and natural disease resistance mechanisms in plants against fungal pathogens. He has published over 50 research papers and has undertaken several academic assignments in several Universities and research institutes in the United Kingdom and participated in many international conferences, workshops etc.
