Dyslexia appears in different languages. Approximately 3% to 5% of the school population has some form of dyslexia. As each dyslexic has different difficulties in learning, their treatment must cater to their needs.

Gender proportion
Among the cases found in western countries, the number of male with dyslexia is 4 times higher than that of female.

Studies in the US and Europe showed that a high proportion of male prisoners having undiagnosed dyslexia.
