Exhibition - Biodiversity of Hong Kong

Skyscrapers, highways, shopping malls, housing estates, harbour and airports – Hong Kong is one of the top modern cities home to many of us. Yet with a coastline over 1,200 km and 44,000 hectres of country park area, she is also a gifted reserve for the rich natural biodiversity living around us. Little may we be aware that there are over 8000 recorded species dwelling in this beautiful neighbourhood with us, or that it is a haven to some critically endangered species. But then, where can we find these neighbour-of-natures? What makes Hong Kong such a special place to have its own endemic species? Why and how does biodiversity really mean to us?

Organized by the Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU, the Exhibition: Biodiversity of Hong Kong opens up a door to our living environment as a glamourous gallery of vitality and an invaluable natural resource. It brings you into the forests, across the streams, along the coast and even down to the sea to explore the different habitats of the city, while the habitants there tell you stories of their own, their neighbours and the threats they face. The exhibition will show you the prosperity of Hong Kong natural wildlife, the reasons why we should be proud of it and why we should protect it. If you need a gasp of air away from the usual urban life, this exhibition will surely offer you a fresh perception to appreciate our Hong Kong.
