Second International Symposium on "Chinese Women and their Cyber Networks" Oct 2004

Objective:

The primary objective of this international symposium is to bring together a group of scholars specializing in works related to Chinese women and the cyber culture. It will explore how Chinese women are able to exploit and use the Internet and the cyber networks for their personal and social gains.

Broad themes include:

1. Cyber-culture and the construction of women's identity

2. Chinese women and consumption of cyber-culture

3. Cyber-network as Chinese women's social capital

4. Use and abuse of cyber network

5. Chinese women and cyberactivism
